Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Modiri (Pty) Ltd collects and uses your personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who We Are
Responsible Party: Modiri (Pty) Ltd (registration number to be confirmed), a company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa.
Information Officer: The Information Officer can be contacted at privacy@modiri.co.za. We will designate and register our Information Officer with the Information Regulator prior to processing personal information commercially.
2. Information We Collect
During the pre-launch interest registration phase, we collect only the information you voluntarily provide:
- First name — to personalise our communications with you
- Email address — to send you launch notifications
- City or area (optional) — to inform you of availability in your region
- Interest track — whether you registered as a Homeowner, Individual Artisan, or Company
- Registration timestamp — for internal record-keeping
We do not collect financial information, identification numbers, biometric data, or any special personal information as defined under POPIA during this phase.
3. Why We Collect This Information
We collect this information for one specific, stated purpose: to notify you when the Modiri application relevant to your interest track becomes available. We will not use it for any other purpose without your explicit consent.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To send you a single notification email when the Modiri app is ready in your area
- To segment launch communications by user type and region
- To understand overall demand across regions and user types (in aggregate, anonymised form only)
We will not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties, except as required to operate our services (see section 5).
5. Who We Share It With
Your personal information may be processed by:
- Email service providers — to deliver launch notifications on our behalf. These operators are bound by confidentiality and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Cloud hosting providers — who store data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
We do not share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.
6. How Long We Keep Your Information
We will retain your registration information for a maximum of 24 months from the date of registration, or until you request deletion, whichever is sooner. Once the Modiri app has launched and you have received your notification, we will delete your waitlist registration data within 90 days unless you have created an account.
7. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request that we delete your personal information
- Objection — object to the processing of your information
- Withdrawal of consent — unsubscribe from our communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send you
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at www.justice.gov.za/inforeg if you believe your rights have been infringed

8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies
This website does not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics during the pre-launch phase. We use browser localStorage solely to temporarily store your registration data before it is transmitted to our servers. This data does not leave your browser unless you submit the registration form.
10. Children
Modiri is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from persons under 18 years of age.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
