We know what you're thinking.

When you book and pay, your money goes into a secure escrow account — not to the artisan. It stays there for the entire duration of the job. Once you've inspected the work and confirm through the app that you're satisfied, the funds are released. If you're not happy, you raise a dispute and Modiri steps in. The artisan never receives a cent until you say so.
Every artisan undergoes a criminal background check through an accredited SAPS-linked verification bureau before their profile goes live. This flags any criminal record held against the artisan's ID number. Artisans with violent, fraud, or property crime convictions are not admitted to the platform. The check is repeated periodically to keep the database current.
Don't release escrow. Open a dispute directly from the app — Modiri's QA team reviews the case, assesses the work against the job brief, and mediates between you and the artisan. Our policy is a full refund if the work genuinely doesn't meet the agreed standard. Most disputes are resolved within 5 business days.
The guarantee covers defects in workmanship that emerge after the job is completed and payment is released. If a pipe starts leaking a week later because of how it was fitted, if an electrical fault appears, or if paintwork peels prematurely — you're covered. Raise it in the app, our team assesses it, and we arrange rectification or compensation. Insurance backs the guarantee so there's no cap on the claim.
The beta is running in Johannesburg and Pretoria first, with Cape Town and Durban following shortly after. Join the beta below — enter your city and we'll prioritise your area as we expand. We're growing fast and artisans are onboarding in new areas weekly.
